What is the Proffesional Behavior of a Student?

A student should be on time and and be attentive during class listening and helping fellow students and listening to the teacher during a lecture and have input into the conversation. The student should do all of the homework and have it turned in on time and try to get the greatest possible grade you can get in the class. don't settle for less than you can get. if you settle for less your waisting yours and the teachers time because your skimming by and not really learning anything, i admit I'm not a model student there are days that it is great to go home and wait till the last minute to do the homework. especially being in class until 7 makes it difficult i am ready to relax after starting my day at 8 in the morning (im not trying to whine because i know most of you do the same thing) and i still have to go through the last class of the day.

What is a Typical job for ethnic groups? Why?

certain jobs are usually held by ethnical groups are usually long hard jobs that most "Lazy americans" dont want to do. ethnic groups also accept lower pay because its what they can get, they often very roughly speak english and wont get hired unless they are able to do a great job and be fast and accurate at what they do. from my expierience i have realized that often farmers will hire imigrants because they work as hard as they can through the heat and cold. I have worked with immigrants and i have never seen a group of people so happy to bust there ass for 10 hours and get payed the same as a teenager who is slowing down towards the end of the day and getting in there way. they work like robots never quiting just keep working and cracking jokes and laughing and talking. where as i am trying to refrain from talking becuase every bone in my body aches and im afraid if i talk my jaw will fall off.

What Writing Skills do i Expect to Have at the End of the Semester?

At the end of this semester i expect to write a piece that is good enough to receive and A and not have to completely change it during revisions. I also would be able to read a piece and completely understand and comprehend the content and be able to fix any problems. and feel more confident in my writing.

Can men be stay at home parents?

I would say men can be stay at home parents and there shouldnt be a problem with that as long as he manages the home while the women is out at work bringing in the money. therefore there both doing thier part but the women brings the income and the man brings the cooking and the cleaning. I dont believe this is very common or popular because typical men are not tighty and organized, and men want to be the supporter of the family by working hard jobs that prove them worthy of having what they do.

What type of work is typically done by men? women?

Typically when you thank of a mans job you see heavy lifting dangerous jobs such as a builder or repair man, welder, electrician using powerful equipment that can be dangerous if not used correctly. when most people think of women either they stay at home and cook, clean , take care of the children. or if they have a job it is some type of service desk or secretary, even a nurse.
I think this is because most people would rather see a women when they come into a business rather than a man. Women are generally neater and more appealing. where men don't really care what they look like. and there usually good with kids and dealing with injured people because they are sympathetic, where if a man was to work in a hospital and an injured man came in and was complaining about a broken bone or a serious wound the man would say its not that bad quit bitching' Where a women would say are you OK? Or at least ouch that's gotta hurt. But as time goes on i believe the sex of a person is irrelevant to what kind of job as that person has especially as the stay at home moms of the earlier years slowly disappear.

What do I think of my draft?

I believe my draft is fairly good im hoping to make it much better, it was easy to write once i got started but at first it was difficult to think and organize my thoughts. especially since i didnt use any sources other than my prior knowledge which i have learned through highschooland my first semester in college. It is also difficult for me to know where to put things so my papers often jump around and are difficult to read.

How did Peer review go?

Peer review went great, i was with two people who i am certain had better pieces than me. but thats a good thing for me because they gave me great insight on what i need to do to make my piece as good as thiers were. although both of thier pieces were great i believe i helped them improve thier pieces a little bit at least i hope i did. We didnt really get to know them very well but from reding there papers i feel as if i know them better than anyone else in the room. I would most certainly work with them again and i hope that after i make the revisions they suggested that my piece will have a great piece by the time im done.

What kind of reading is required in the career i am attending school for

The career i want to have when i get out of school will be a cabinet or furniture maker. in this field i will have to read plans that either i write or the customer writes. I will have to read manuals on the equipment used in the shop so i can make sure that me or any of the people who will work for me dont get injured or break any of the machinery. If i have my own business i will have to read resumes and important documents that will keep me out of trouble and keep my business going. In the begining i will read many books and articles about wood working and research the current techniques and tips to building things that will make difficult projects cheaper and easier. i will also have to read bills and break down orders to the customers.

What kind of reading is required for my job?

Working in fast food there is not much reading involved however there are small bits here and there. Where i work my boss instead of staying all day and night leaves notes everywhere saying what she would like done or adress a problem that has been bothering her and she wants fixed. If we get a new piece of equipment we have to read the owners manual for operation and maintenence/cleaning. I often find my self putting up the latest sales etc. on the reader board. the only other reading task i have is reading orders correctly, although ther brief and abbreviated.

What do I like to write about?

I like to write personnel narratives. I like to write about my experiences because most of the time it is fun to sit and think about the past. I also like to write about past experiences because it is easier to write about. When i write fictional pieces i have a tendency to change things half way through the piece and end up confusing the reader. With past experiences there is nothing creative about it i just write from what i remember and turn my writing into a movie in my head remembering exactly how everything happened. When writing creative pieces it takes me a long time to plan out how the story will happen and with a narrative nothing ever really changes because i cant change what already happened.

Do I like to write?

I really dont mind writing, its by any means a hobby of any sort but i would much rather write than read. when i write i often get stuck and it becomes frustrating and i quit or ramble and ruin my piece. the problem is i cant get interested in anything to write about and when i do find something to write about i dont know how to go about doing so my words jumble together and dont have the right order so my piece becomes very confusing. i would like writing much more if i was better at it. so i really dont like to write but it doesnt bother me when i have to.

My First Job

My first job was at a cocession stand at a baseball park but i got paid in cash and as far as i am cocerned i believe my first real job to be at Dairy Queen in LaGrange I was 16 and had just got my license i had to pay my insurance and gas so i was very eager to make money and get on with my freedom.
I didnt really need any skills for the job but knowing how to count change and deal with customers was a big help. I needed to learn how to prepare and serve food and Ice cream. I also needed to learn how to clean equipment that is to prepare food.
These skills were said in my workplace literacy paper but i still disagree that counting change has anything to do with literacy.
