What kind of reading is required in the career i am attending school for

The career i want to have when i get out of school will be a cabinet or furniture maker. in this field i will have to read plans that either i write or the customer writes. I will have to read manuals on the equipment used in the shop so i can make sure that me or any of the people who will work for me dont get injured or break any of the machinery. If i have my own business i will have to read resumes and important documents that will keep me out of trouble and keep my business going. In the begining i will read many books and articles about wood working and research the current techniques and tips to building things that will make difficult projects cheaper and easier. i will also have to read bills and break down orders to the customers.

I have a cousin by marriage who makes cabinets out of a small shop in virgina. They are beautiful. Artists make cabinets. I am in awe of your talent / artistry if you can do that. I have no design / skill in woodworking. That is very cool.
